<![CDATA[Fun Frames!]]>Wed, 18 May 2011 00:58:30 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2011/05/fun-frames.htmlDo you know someone who has a theme room as their family or game room? We have a line of fun frame mouldings that can fit in with any game room theme.

For the motorcycle folks, who may have purchased prints at the Sturgis rally, or riding around the black hills, we have mouldings with skull and bones, or lightening bolts, in several styles, colors and sizes.

For the card players, we have mouldings with the suits of a deck of cards...the clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades are moulded into the frames. They come in either antique gold or silver. Also one with dice, or wine/martini glasses. Wouldn’t that card playing dog look great in one of these?

For the patriotic among us, we have the stars and stripes...proudly flying on a picture frame moulding. It works great for those shadow boxes that celebrate a military career.

Then, for the proud car owners, we have the “new car paint” mouldings, painted with actual metal flake car paint in several different colors, one of which is sure to match that picture of their favorite ride. We also have mouldings that have old cars molded into the frame. Super cool!

Music notes, Polynesian, beach, hierglyphics, whatever the theme is in the fun room, we can provide a frame that will be sure to compliment it.

<![CDATA[Imagine This!]]>Mon, 04 Apr 2011 12:30:35 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2011/04/imagine-this.htmlDo you know of someone who has art to frame, but is just too busy to take the time to bring it in and design it? We have a new program called integrated framer, that allows us to design remotely. Just drop off the print, or if your local, I’ll be happy to pick it up. Give me a few hints as to what you had in mind, and I will show you it completetly framed in a few different ways. You choose the one you like, or offer more suggestions if it isn’t what you had in mind. You ok it, and within a week or so,you have the finished piece in your hands. The whole process can be done by email and is as easy as can be. Just another option for the busy person.

<![CDATA[Concert Posters]]>Tue, 29 Mar 2011 00:22:27 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2011/03/concert-posters.html
Have you ever been to a concert or play that you want to remember or commemorate?
Posters that advertise the play or concert are just thrown away after the event. Take one home and have it framed. It doesn’t matter if it’s a little wrinkled. We can mount them in a way to remove all the wrinkles. Matting isn’t necessarily needed in that case, all you need to do is pick out a frame. We have a whole line of mouldings to dress up and make that movie poster something special. In this case, we chose a frame that has carved music notes in it. There are also many other frames available, with a patriotic, cards suits, nautical, or a Polynesian theme. You can also choose a simple black or a bright color to set off the picture. Posters are an inexpensive way to always remember that super concert or play that you loved.. Most can be framed for less than $50. So anyone who has movie or concert show bills saved, let them know how they can be inexpensively saved and displayed.

<![CDATA[Office Posters]]>Mon, 21 Mar 2011 12:19:05 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2011/03/office-posters.htmlDo you or someone you know have an office where you entertain clients, or one that is open to the public? What impression do you think your walls are giving those people. Is it one of professionalism? or a lackluster, just tack it on the wall, I don’t really care attitude.

One of our clients has decided that the walls of her office should look professional, and inform the public and her clients of what she has to offer. Not everyone knows that she offers other services. With these framed posters, anyone that comes in will notice the nicely presented information.

Poster framing is an inexpensive advertising avenue. For about the price of lunch, you can present a professional upscale image to your clients, and potential clients. One that projects how much you care about your business, and want to present it in it’s best light.

So you are a business owner who sees clients in his office, or has an office that is in the public view, find out how inexpensive and easy it is to project the right image by custom framing your advertising posters.

<![CDATA[Damaged Print]]>Fri, 03 Dec 2010 17:23:21 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2010/12/damaged-print.htmlDo you know someone with damaged art? This print was water damaged, cockled, and discolored, especially in the bottom corner. With new mats, cut decoratively, to cover as much of the damaged area as possible, the picture is better than new. The scratches to the frame itself were repaired also, Now, the print is totally different from the one the came in the door.

Almost any damaged print can be salvaged . Water damage, and UV light damage, can be camoflaged with the right mats. Broken glass can be fixed. Scratches on the moulding can be covered. Whatever the problem is, bring it to us, and we’ll give you the options, If it can be salvaged, we will do it. If not, why not get a new print from our preframed gallery of pictures?

<![CDATA[Framing Competition]]>Thu, 11 Nov 2010 02:32:12 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2010/11/framing-competition.htmlOur local Professional group, PPFA (Professional Picture Framers Association) recently held a Seminar/Trade Show along with our quarterly meeting. It was a great day of education, and visiting with other framers from the area, and from as far away as Toronto, Canada. I met lots of new people, learned a few new "tricks of the trade" and was able to meet many of the vendors available for framing supplies and equipment.

Along with this, was the chapter edition of a nationwide framing competition. A print was selected that was purchased by all who wanted to join the competition, and each framer framed it as they wished, in full conservation fashion. This year, the selected print was a fall leaf. The bright colors with black background inspired many different "takes" on the best framing treatment. My treatment was deemed good enough to win a ribbon. I received high points for 1st time entry, which in this group is a pretty big honor.

The second class of the competition was an "open" class, where one could enter any framed work you chose. I chose a hand painted silk piece and used the new mat cutter to design a custom carved mat. This piece placed 2nd! I was really proud to receive this, as a fairly new framer, when all my competition has all been around a while, and this was my first show! AND, it actually "paid" enough to offset my entry fees!

I also entered a custom cut Chinese paper cut art into an "Anything goes" class. This was not a "judged" class, but a popular choice vote. With the really creative entries into this class, I didn't expect recognition. I just enjoyed displaying some of my work to my peers.

So, for my first foray into completion in the framing world, I didn't do too bad! I hope you all will come see the pieces displayed proudly in our studio.]]>
<![CDATA[Letter Mats]]>Thu, 21 Oct 2010 02:14:27 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2010/10/letter-mats.htmlThere is lots of cool things we can do with names on our computerized mat
cutter. Spread the word to people with graduation or school pictures..Wedding or newborn pictures. Grandparents or parents with a little extra wall space. Some of these are great just for snapshots, and some are appropriate for more formal studio pictures. We can use different fonts to spell out names and dates in carved mats, or we can cut out the entire letter to show the photo peaking from behind.

These make great gifts for showers. anniversaries, and birthdays. Add a fun frame, a few photos, and you have a unique gift that no one else will have. A personalized mat for a senior or school picture is the perfect gift. Although we’d love to add a frame, we can also cut these mats to fit existing frames. There really is a great gift in any pricerange.photos, and you have a unique gift that no one else will have.]]>
<![CDATA[Little Pictures]]>Wed, 13 Oct 2010 00:06:59 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2010/10/little-pictures.htmlWhen people think of custom picture framing, they think of the big scenery prints or busy still life like pictures. I’m encouraging people to downsize! Some of the coolest art around are simple things...like a picture of a single leaf. Small pictures can be made bigger than life with the right framing treatment. Small pictures can be matted to be larger, or similar ones can be put into a multi-opening frame. They are the perfect setting for decorative mats. The mat can become part of the art.

With our ability to cut decorative mats, we can make any picture, small or large...look like a million bucks!

<![CDATA[New Addition to BWCF]]>Mon, 04 Oct 2010 22:19:50 -0600http://backwoodscustomframing.com/2/post/2010/10/new-addition-to-bwcf.htmlI have been remiss in posting to the blog lately, but my plan is to change that! There are lots of new and exciting things happening here at BWCF. Late last week, I got a new toy! We just purchased a new computerized mat cutter. That allows us to do much more decorative mat cutting for that special picture. We can cut ovals, cut art, and many different decorative mats. They can really dress up a print. We also have the ability to custom design a mat that perfectly matches the art. We can now also cut name mats, which I’ll post a sample of next week.

If anyone you know is looking for a special treatment for a print or photo, send them our way to check out some of the new designs. Also, as we are continually adding new designs to our gallery, we need to make room. That means that most of the art now hanging in our gallery is for sale at a greatly discounted price, for the person looking for a completed piece of work. There is a great selection!
